09-08-2024 James 2 V-05 Poor chose by God to be rich in Faith
Letter to James 2 v-Five
5 Listen, my beloved brothers. Did not God choose those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he promised to those who love him?
This verse highlights a profound theme within the Epistle of James: the inversion of worldly values in the eyes of God. In the context of the early Christian community, James addresses the issue of favoritism and discrimination based on socioeconomic status. The rich were often treated with honor, while the poor were marginalized. By emphasizing that God has chosen the poor, James challenges his readers to reconsider their judgments and actions. The poor, often overlooked and undervalued by society, are highlighted as recipients of God’s grace and promise.
The phrase “rich in faith” suggests that true wealth is not measured by material possessions but by one’s relationship with God and the depth of their faith. This aligns with Jesus’ teachings, where he often spoke of the poor and the marginalized, indicating that the kingdom of God is accessible to those who are humble and dependent on Him.
Furthermore, this verse serves as a reminder of God’s preferential option for the poor—a recurring theme throughout Scripture. It invites believers to reflect on their own biases and to embody a spirit of inclusivity and love. In a world that often prioritizes wealth and status, James calls the church to mirror God’s heart, recognizing that faith and love are the true measures of a person’s worth in the Kingdom of God. Thus, James 2:5 not only affirms the dignity of the poor but also challenges all believers to identify with the marginalized and embrace a faith that transcends societal divides. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20
09-08-2024 James 2 V-05
**Poor chose by God to be rich in Faith**
In shadows where the weary dwell,
With hearts that ache, and stories tell,
God whispers soft, His promise near,
To those the world may never revere.
“Listen close,” the voice resounds,
In humble hearts, true treasure is found.
The rich may boast of gold and fame,
But faith shines bright, a different name.
The poor in spirit, lowly, meek,
In their despair, His love they seek.
Chosen not for wealth or might,
But for a heart that seeks the heavenly light.
Oh, kingdom waits for those who crave,
A love that lifts, a hope that saves.
For in the eyes of heaven’s eternal grace,
The last are first, each soul has their place.
So let us shed our worldly ways,
And honor all in love’s embrace.
For every life, both rich and poor,
Holds worth beyond what we explore.
In faith, we rise, together stand,
As brothers, sisters, hand in hand.
For God has chosen, through the strife,
The humble hearts to share this life. Amen.
