First Letter to the Corinthians 3 v-One thru Three
1 Brothers, I could not talk to you as spiritual people, but as fleshly people, as infants in Christ. 2 I fed you milk, not solid food, because you were unable to take it. Indeed, you are still not able, even now, 3 for you are still of the flesh. While there is jealousy and rivalry among you, are you not of the flesh, and behaving in an ordinary human way?
The Apostle Paul addresses the Corinthian church, expressing concern over their spiritual immaturity. He begins by stating that he could not speak to them as spiritual people but as people of the flesh, indicating that their behavior and mindset were more aligned with worldly values than with the teachings of Christ. This distinction between spiritual maturity and carnality is crucial in understanding the challenges faced by the Corinthian believers.
Paul describes the Corinthians as “infants in Christ,” highlighting their need for basic spiritual nourishment rather than solid food. This metaphor emphasizes their lack of growth and understanding in matters of faith. Just as infants require milk for sustenance, the Corinthians were still dependent on elementary teachings instead of engaging with deeper spiritual truths. This immaturity is linked to their divisions and quarrels, which Paul identifies as evidence of their fleshly nature. He explicitly states that the presence of jealousy and strife among them demonstrates that they are acting like mere humans, rather than embodying the transformative power of the Holy Spirit.
In these verses, Paul confronts the church’s tendency to align themselves with various leaders, creating factions that undermine the unity of the body of Christ. His admonition serves as a call to reflection and growth, urging the Corinthians to move beyond their divisive behaviors and strive for greater spiritual maturity. Ultimately, 1 Corinthians 3:1-3 challenges believers to evaluate their faith journey, encouraging them to seek deeper understanding and unity in Christ, rather than remaining stagnant in their spiritual development. This passage remains relevant today, prompting Christians to examine their own lives for signs of spiritual growth and the health of their community. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20
09-04-2024 1 Corinthians 3 V-0103
**Behave Spiritually Not Like Ordinary Humans**
In Corinth’s heart, where strife was rife,
Paul penned his words, a call to life,
To infant souls, so lost in pride,
He spoke of grace, our faithful guide.
“You’re still in need of milk,” he said,
“Not solid food to be well-fed,
For though you’ve heard the Savior’s call,
As children play, you’ve yet to crawl.”
With jealousy like shadows cast,
And quarrels echoing from your past,
He urged them to rise above the fray,
To seek the light, to walk in His way.
“Are you not mere mortals?” he implored,
Divisions among you, the truth ignored,
Each one claims a leader, a name to boast,
But in Christ alone, let’s find our host.
So let us grow, let hearts unite,
In love and truth, to seek the light,
For we are called, as one, to be,
A living church, in unity.
With every step, let wisdom bloom,
Transform our hearts, dispel the gloom,
In Christ, we’re more than just a name,
Together bound, we stake our claim.
So ponder deep these words of grace,
And strive for growth in this sacred space,
For in the Spirit, we find our peace,
In love’s embrace, our conflicts cease. Amen.
