08-31-2024 1 Corinthians 1 V-2631 Whoever boasts, should boast in the Lord
The 1st Letter to the Corinthians Chapter 1 v-26 thru 31
26 Consider your own calling, brothers. Not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 27 Rather, God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong, 28 and God chose the lowly and despised of the world, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who are something, 29 so that no human being might boast before God. 30 It is due to him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, as well as righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, 31 so that, as it is written, “Whoever boasts, should boast in the Lord.”
This passage offers profound insights into the nature of God’s choice and the humility required for true faith. The Apostle Paul addresses the Corinthian church, reminding them of their own calling and the stark contrast between worldly wisdom and divine purpose. He emphasizes that not many of them were wise by human standards, powerful, or of noble birth. This assertion highlights God’s intentional choice of the marginalized and the seemingly foolish in society to confound the wise and the strong.
Paul states that God chose the “foolish things” of the world to shame the wise, and the “weak things” to shame the strong. This divine strategy underscores a recurring theme in Scripture: God’s preference for the humble and lowly. It serves as a reminder that human status and achievement are insignificant in the grand scheme of God’s kingdom. Instead, it is faith and reliance on God that elevate individuals in His eyes.
The passage culminates in a powerful declaration that Christ Jesus is our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. This points to the centrality of Christ in the believer’s life, emphasizing that all that believers are and have comes from Him. It invites us to reject pride and self-sufficiency, recognizing that our worth and identity are rooted in Christ alone.
Finally, Paul concludes with a call for humility, reflecting the words of Jeremiah: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” This encapsulates the essence of Christian faith—acknowledging that all glory belongs to God, who transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary for His purposes. In a world that often values strength and stature, this passage challenges believers to embrace their identity in Christ and to celebrate God’s sovereign choice. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20
08-31-2024 1 Corinthians 1 V-2631
**Whoever boasts, should boast in the Lord**
In the shadows of the wise,
Where the proud and mighty stand,
God calls forth the humble hearts,
With a gentle, guiding hand.
Not the learned or the strong,
Not the noble of the day,
But the foolish, weak, and lowly,
In His love, they find their way.
He takes the simple, the obscure,
To confound the worldly wise,
In the depths of our humility,
God’s true power starts to rise.
Christ, our wisdom, pure and bright,
In Him, our righteousness we find,
Sanctified by love’s embrace,
In His grace, our hearts aligned.
Let not the proud boast of their might,
Nor the strong rely on fame,
For in our weakness, we find strength,
In His glory, we proclaim.
So let us gather, hand in hand,
In the light of grace, we stand,
From the ashes, He will raise,
A people born to sing His praise.
In our hearts, a truth will stir,
That all we are, He gives to confer,
For in the shadows of the wise,
God’s chosen finds His advice.
Let us boast not in ourselves,
But in the Lord we serve and seek,
For through the foolish and the weak,
His love makes the broken meek. Amen.
