The Book of Jeremiah 3 v- 14 thru 17

14 Return, rebellious children—oracle of the LORD—for I am your master; I will take you, one from a city, two from a clan, and bring you to Zion. 15 I will appoint for you shepherds after my own heart, who will shepherd you wisely and prudently. 16 When you increase in number and are fruitful in the land— oracle of the LORD— They will in those days no longer say, “The ark of the covenant of the LORD!” They will no longer think of it, or remember it, or miss it, or make another one. 17 At that time they will call Jerusalem “the LORD’s throne.” All nations will gather together there to honor the name of the LORD at Jerusalem, and they will no longer stubbornly follow their wicked heart.

In Jeremiah 3:14-17, the prophet speaks of God’s invitation to His wayward people to return to Him, promising restoration and a future of unity and faithfulness. This passage heralds a time when God will gather His people from all directions, give them shepherds after His own heart, and establish a new, unbreakable covenant. The fulfillment of these promises can be profoundly correlated with the Eucharist in the Catholic tradition.

The Eucharist, instituted by Jesus Christ at the Last Supper, is the sacrament of Christ’s body and blood, symbolizing the new covenant between God and humanity. When Jesus broke the bread and shared the wine with His disciples, He established a tangible means through which His followers could continuously partake in the divine promise of reconciliation and eternal life. This act is not merely a ritual but a profound fulfillment of God’s promise to restore His people and bring them into a new relationship with Him.

Jeremiah’s prophecy speaks of a time when the Ark of the Covenant would no longer be central, as God’s presence would be experienced more directly. In the Eucharist, this prophecy finds its completion: the bread and wine become the real presence of Christ, making the need for the Ark obsolete. The Eucharist signifies God’s intimate presence among His people, fulfilling the promise that “Jerusalem will be called the Throne of the Lord, and all nations will gather in Jerusalem to honor the name of the Lord” (Jeremiah 3:17). This gathering is spiritually realized in the universal celebration of the Eucharist, where believers from all nations come together in unity.

Furthermore, the shepherds “after God’s own heart” mentioned in Jeremiah 3:15 can be seen in the priests and leaders within the Church who guide the faithful in understanding and living out the significance of the Eucharist. Through the Eucharistic celebration, the Church continually experiences and renews the covenant relationship with God, embodying the promise of unity, restoration, and divine guidance prophesied by Jeremiah. Thus, the Eucharist serves as a profound and living manifestation of the fulfillment of Jeremiah’s vision for a restored and united people under God’s new covenant. If only you would believe. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Promise Divine unifies the faithful**

Return to Me, My wayward child,

From distant lands, come back, beguiled.

I’ll gather you, from east to west,

In love and mercy, you’ll be blessed.

Shepherds after My own heart,

Guiding you, never to depart.

Leading with love, and wisdom true,

In My covenant, I’ll renew.

In Jerusalem, My presence found,

No longer hidden, but all around.

The Ark of old, no longer needed,

In the Eucharist, My love is seeded.

Bread and wine, My body and blood,

A new covenant, in this sacred flood.

Gathered as one, from every land,

In unity, we’ll all stand.

From every nation, tribe, and tongue,

In the Eucharist, we are one.

Hearts united, faith restored,

In the presence of our Divine Lord.

Return to Me, with hearts ablaze,

In the Eucharist, feel My grace.

Jerusalem, the Throne of the Lord,

In the Eucharist, we are fully restored. Amen.
