07-23-2024 John 14 V-1520 The Promise of the Holy Spirit
The Book of John 14 v- 15 thru 20
15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, 17 the Spirit of truth, which the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it. But you know it, because it remains with you, and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. 19 In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me, because I live and you will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father and you are in me and I in you.”
In John 14:15-20, Jesus assures His disciples of the inseparable connection between love for Him and obedience to His commands. He emphasizes the importance of this relationship, indicating that those who truly love Him will keep His commandments. This alignment of love and obedience is not simply a matter of following rules, but rather a deep expression of devotion and trust in Him as Lord.
Jesus promises to send the Holy Spirit as a Helper, the Spirit of truth who will dwell with believers forever. This Spirit will serve as a constant guide, bringing comfort, wisdom, and discernment to those who seek to follow Christ faithfully. Though the world may not recognize or receive this Spirit, believers will intimately know and experience His presence in their lives.
Jesus assures His disciples that they will not be left alone, even though He will physically depart from them. He promises to come to them through the Spirit, revealing Himself in a new and profound way. This unity between the Father, the Son, and the Spirit will be made manifest to those who love and obey Him, creating a deep and abiding relationship that transcends physical presence.
Through these verses, Jesus speaks of a spiritual union that goes beyond mere human comprehension. He invites His followers into a divine relationship characterized by love, obedience, and the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. This promise of divine companionship and guidance serves as a source of comfort and hope for believers, assuring them of the eternal connection they have with their Savior.
Jesus emphasizes the importance of love and obedience as key components of the believer’s relationship with Him. These verses highlight the intimate connection between loving Jesus and keeping His commandments, a relationship that is deepened through the presence of the Holy Spirit. As believers strive to follow Christ faithfully, they are promised the continuous guidance and comfort of the Holy Spirit, who serves as a constant companion in their spiritual journey.
When we consider the Eucharist, also known as the Lord’s Supper or Communion, we see a profound connection to the themes presented in John 14:15-20. The Eucharist is a sacrament instituted by Jesus during the Last Supper, where He shared bread and wine with His disciples, instructing them to partake in remembrance of Him. In this act of communion, believers not only remember Christ’s sacrifice on the cross but also partake in a spiritual union with Him.
Through the Eucharist, believers express their love and obedience to Jesus by following His command to remember Him in the breaking of bread and sharing of the cup. This act of communion symbolizes a deepening of the believer’s relationship with Christ, as they partake in His body and blood, signifying a spiritual nourishment and unity with Him. Just as Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to dwell with His followers forever, the Eucharist serves as a tangible reminder of Christ’s abiding presence with believers through the indwelling of His Spirit.
Therefore, the connection between John 14:15-20 and the Eucharist lies in the profound relationship between love, obedience, and the ongoing presence of Christ through the Holy Spirit. The Eucharist serves as a sacred practice through which believers express their love and devotion to Jesus, partake in His spiritual sustenance, and experience a deep communion with Him and fellow believers. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20
07-23-2024 John 14 V-1520
**The Promise of the Holy Spirit**
In the stillness of the night, a promise softly spoken,
Words of love and comfort, a bond never to be broken.
“If you love Me, keep My commands,” the Savior gently said,
A roadmap to a life of grace, by which we shall be led.
A Helper will the Father send, to be with you forever,
The Spirit of truth, a guiding light, leaving you never.
The world may not perceive Him, nor see His gentle face,
But you will know Him deeply, in His abiding grace.
Not orphans will I leave you, in sorrow or in fear,
For I am coming back to you, My presence always near.
Before long, the world will see Me no more with earthly eyes,
But you will see, and in your heart, My spirit will arise.
Because I live, you also shall, in life that has no end,
United in a sacred love, that nothing can transcend.
On that day you will realize, in spirit and in heart,
I am in My Father, and in you, I live, never to depart.
So hold these words within you, let them be your guiding light,
A promise of eternal love, in the darkest of night.
For in His love we find our home, a place of peace and grace,
And in the Spirit’s gentle breath, we see the Savior’s face. Amen.
