06-112-2024 Matthew 5 V1416 World’s light are you
The Book of Matthew 5 v-14 thru 16
14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. 16 Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.
Being the “Light of the World” is a profound concept deeply rooted in Christian theology, reflecting the essence of Salvation and the teachings of Jesus Christ. In the Gospel of Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus declares, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
This passage emphasizes the transformative power of living a life that reflects Jesus’ teachings. Salvation, in Christian belief, is the deliverance from sin and its consequences, brought about by faith in Jesus Christ. By accepting Jesus as Savior, believers are called to reflect His light, embodying the love, grace, and truth that He exemplified.
Being the light of the world involves more than just personal piety; it is an active, outward expression of faith. It calls for believers to live in a way that illuminates the darkness around them, offering hope, encouragement, and guidance to others. This means engaging in acts of kindness, justice, and mercy, mirroring Jesus’ own ministry on Earth.
Jesus Christ, often referred to as the “Light of the World” (John 8:12), brought spiritual illumination to humanity, revealing the path to reconciliation with God. His life, death, and resurrection are central to the message of Salvation. When believers act as lights in the world, they testify to the transformative power of this message, demonstrating the reality of God’s love and the hope of eternal life.
In a world often overshadowed by despair and confusion, embodying the light of Christ provides a beacon of hope. It challenges believers to rise above selfishness and fear, embracing a life of purpose and service. By doing so, they not only honor Jesus’ sacrifice but also draw others towards the promise of Salvation, creating a community illuminated by faith, hope, and love. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. Ephesians 6:17-20
06-12-2024 Matthew 5 1416
**Light of the World**
In the darkness, you bring forth the dawn,
A beacon of hope where shadows have gone.
“Ye are the light of the world,” He proclaims,
Through you, His love and mercy remain.
Upon a hill, your light brightly shines,
Guiding the lost through life’s tangled vines.
“Let your light so shine before men,” He said,
That they may see your good works and be led.
In the heart of night, your glow does suffice,
Reflecting His grace, a radiant device.
“Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel,”
So stand tall, for your light is His gospel. Amen.
