05-24-2024 Sirach 48 V2025 Isaiah the Prophet
The Book of Sirach Ch 48 v- 12 thru 16
20 But they called upon the Most High God and lifted up their hands to him; He heard the prayer they uttered, and saved them through ISAIAH. 22 For Hezekiah did what was right and held fast to the paths of David, As ordered by the illustrious prophet Isaiah, who saw truth in visions. 23 In his lifetime he turned back the sun and prolonged the life of the king. 24 By his powerful spirit he looked into the future and consoled the mourners of Zion; 25 He foretold what would happen till the end of time, hidden things yet to be fulfilled.
The Book of Isaiah, found in the Old Testament of the Bible, is often regarded as one of the most significant prophetic works, containing numerous prophecies attributed to the Prophet Isaiah. These prophecies range from the immediate future of Israel and surrounding nations to the distant end of times, encompassing the coming of the Messiah and the ultimate destiny of humanity.
Isaiah’s prophecies concerning the future of humanity can be categorized into several themes, including the judgment of nations, the coming of a righteous ruler from the line of David, the establishment of a kingdom of peace and justice, and the ultimate renewal of the world. Isaiah foretells a time of upheaval and divine judgment, where nations would be held accountable for their actions. Chapters like Isaiah 13-23 focus on oracles against various nations, suggesting a period of turmoil and conflict preceding the end times.
One of the most significant messianic prophecies is found in Isaiah 9:6-7, which predicts the birth of a child who would hold the government upon his shoulders and be called “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” This figure, stemming from the lineage of King David, is expected to establish an everlasting kingdom characterized by justice and righteousness. Christians interpret this prophecy as being fulfilled in Jesus Christ, while Jews view the prophecy as referring to a future earthly king from the Davidic line but not Jesus the Christ.
Isaiah also poetically describes a future era of universal peace and harmony in passages like Isaiah 11:6-9, where “the wolf will live with the lamb,” symbolizing the end of hostility and the establishment of a divine kingdom on earth. This era, often referred to as the Messianic Age, is envisioned as a time when the knowledge of God covers the earth, and there is no more suffering or destruction. Isaiah 65:17-25 expands upon this vision, mentioning a “new heavens and a new earth” where the former troubles are forgotten.
However, many of Isaiah’s prophecies remain subject to interpretation and debate. The “hidden things yet to be fulfilled” could be allusions to events and conditions that are not explicitly described and are open to interpretation by various religious traditions. For instance, some prophecies are seen as having dual fulfillments—both a historical fulfillment and a final judgment of mankind. Meaning relating to death, judgment, and the final destiny of the soul of all humanity. As such, while Isaiah’s words provide a framework for divine expectation, the specifics often remain mysterious, with the complete understanding of these prophecies possibly only by having faith in God. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. **Isaiah the Prophet**
In ancient days of Judah’s reign, Isaiah walked the land,
A prophet graced with vision clear, by God’s almighty hand.
With holy fire that touched his lips, his voice rang out so bold,
To kings and men, his prophecies, of future times foretold.
He saw the coming of the One, a Savior pure and meek,
A servant suffering for our sins, the Righteous One, unique.
“Immanuel” he named the child, with us, our God would be,
A light to pierce the shadow’s veil, to set the captives free.
With warnings stern, and promises, Isaiah’s words did soar,
Of nations judged, and peace to come, and mercy to implore.
The lion lying with the lamb, a vision of the peace,
When swords to plowshares shall transform, and wars shall finally cease.
Through chapters scrolled in eloquent, poetic verse and rhyme,
His legacy, a tapestry of providence and time.
For in his words, we find the hope, the steadfast love of God,
The covenant that stands the test, though we are seriously flawed.
So, let us sing of Isaiah, the prophet of the Lord,
Whose ancient words still echo through, in harmony’s eternal chord.
For through the mists of history, his visions still inspire,
To walk in faith, embrace the light, and kindle heaven’s fire. Amen.
