The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 5 v- 3 thru 12

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. 6 Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. 10 Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you [falsely] because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus, they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

The Beatitudes are such a beautiful and unique set of teachings. They really summarize the essence of Christ’s message, don’t they? It’s incredible how they reveal a different perspective on what it means to be blessed and happy. “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.” This line always strikes me as it challenges the conventional notion of wealth and power. It reminds us that true blessings and happiness come from a humble and open heart, not from material possessions or social status. It’s a reminder to seek spiritual wealth and connection with God.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” This teaching acknowledges that pain and sorrow are part of the human experience, but also promises that comfort and healing will come. It’s a message of hope in moments of despair. It absolutely reminds us that even in our darkest times, there is light and solace awaiting us. It’s a comforting thought to know that no sorrow is permanent and that we can find solace and strength in our faith. “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” This one often challenges our cultural understanding of strength and power. It’s a call to embrace humility, gentleness, and compassion, rather than seeking dominance or control. A genuine reminder that true strength lies in our ability to be kind and understanding, rather than in exerting power over others. It’s a shift in perspective, encouraging us to value qualities that promote harmony and unity.

I find the Beatitudes ending with “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” to be incredibly powerful. It speaks to the courage and resilience required to stand up for what is right, even when faced with adversity. This is a reminder that standing up for justice and righteousness might not always be easy, but it is a blessed path. It encourages us to stay true to our principles and values, even in the face of opposition. The Beatitudes truly provide a roadmap for living a meaningful and fulfilling life. They challenge us to reevaluate our priorities and our understanding of truth and live Salvation Redeemed! Amen.

**In persecution for righteousness sake convey**

Spirit poor blessed are you

Heaven’s Kingdom is yours too

Mourners are blessed by what they confess

Comforted to meet the final test

Meek are blessed land inherit

Hunger are blessed righteousness thirst

Satisfied in the end to totally merit

Mercy shown blessings rehearsed

Heart is clean blessed are they

God see will they peacemakers display

God’s Children are called to obey

In persecution for righteousness sake convey

Heaven’s Kingdom is theirs whether persecuted or not

For righteousness sake they were oppressed

Blessed are you when you are insulted or mocked

Evil uttered falsely against you rejoice and confess

Prophets before me persecuted Heaven’s reward great at rest
