The Gospel of Luke Chapter 12 v- 51 thru 53

51 Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. 52 From now on a household of five will be divided, three against two and two against three; 53 a father will be divided against his son and a son against his father, a mother against her daughter and a daughter against her mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”

This one is tough to understand. Why does someone deny Salvation? Why do children stray away from the Church? Some say it is Satan. Some say it’s Free Will. Obviously, it seems very blatant. Most would agree that it surely does kill. Not being Saved drives you to see self-reliance seeking not the Word of God as Truth. Succumbing to the world by excess even as broke as one labeled trailer trash who dishes out family abuse. Notice I’m not saying man or woman or child for each can be abusive if goodwill isn’t in their hearts. This goes for the medium income people and the very rich too. Like the T-shirt says, “Know Jesus know peace. No Jesus no peace.” What hurts is when your own family becomes this norm. It hurts because then they deny Salvation and are risking to spend all of Eternity in the depths of Hell not to mention loss of Spiritual blood love.

While it truly hurts to experience this firsthand, we must share why this message acted as a refining and purifying fire because it confronted people with the truth about themselves and their need for transformation. It exposed their selfishness, greed, and pride, urging them to let go of their old ways and embrace the values and principles of the Kingdom. This process of refining and purifying was often uncomfortable and painful, as it required individuals to confront their own weaknesses and make difficult choices.

However, Jesus’ message did not always meet with acceptance. Many people rejected his teachings and refused to change their ways. This rejection often led to conflict and dissension, even within families. Some family members would embrace Jesus’ message while others would oppose it, leading to tensions and divisions within households.

The reason for this conflict and dissension is that Jesus’ message challenged the status quo and threatened the power structures of the time. His teachings went against the religious and social norms, exposing the hypocrisy and corruption of the religious leaders and the oppressive practices of the ruling authorities. This created a divide among people, with some accepting Jesus’ message and others vehemently opposing it.

In Luke 12:51-53, Jesus himself acknowledged this division that his message would cause within families. He said, “Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. From now on, five in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

This division was not the purpose of Jesus’ message, but rather a consequence of the clash between the values of the Kingdom and the values of the world. Jesus’ proclamation of the Kingdom exposed the true intentions and beliefs of individuals, and this often led to conflicts and divisions, even within families.

Overall, Jesus’ proclamation of the Kingdom was a refining and purifying fire that challenged people to change their ways and embrace a new way of living. It brought about conflicts and divisions, as some accepted and others rejected his message. However, Jesus’ ultimate goal was to bring about transformation and reconciliation, inviting all people to experience the love, forgiveness, and justice of Salvation. Amen.

**Son against his father**

Earth’s peace establish division rather you’ll know

Dividing the five of a household where only the saved have won

Three against two or two against three to sow

Son against his father a father divided from his son

Mother and daughter will divide the mother-in-law’s pun
