09-02-2023 John 13 V-3435 Commandment new you given
The Gospel of John Chapter 13 v- 3435
34 “I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. 35 This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Did God really mean to institute a new commandment or did He speak more eloquently of the Commandments already in place? Do you hear love one another in any of these?
The 10 Commandments
- You shall have no other God’s before Me.
- Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven images. …
- Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vain. …
- Remember the Sabbath day and keep it Holy. …
- Honor your father and mother. …
- Thou shalt not kill. …
- Thou shalt not commit adultery. …
- Thou shalt not steal.
It seems God was trying to share the Truth of love over getting even? Something called bearing wrongs willingly and bearing wrongs patiently. Do you do that? Was God trying to tell us something in His Truth? I hear loving one another when you honor your mom and dad. Even in the midst of turmoil a parent must be given the respect of forgiveness allowing love to exude over the wounds of life’s situations that make us all change when God isn’t instilled as the reason to live right a reason to live and forgive. I forgive my mom and dad for all wrongs such as not instilling in me the love of Truth by way of teaching me the Scriptures as they did teach me a sense of wrong over right but it took me years to surrender to God’s Will by living God First. I forgive my dad for being a drunk an alcoholic a wife beater a cheater someone who was always late filled with selfishness but one day three years before he died I got down on my knees and told him how much I loved him and how I forgave him for any and all wrongs. We embraced and cried together as I recalled all the things I was forgiving him for. He looked at me and said he was sorry for hurting us kids with belts and open hands that would surely wake a person up. He said he was sorry for hurting my sister in leaving her care after all she did when he moved back home before he died because he was hurting for hometown normalcy his own home to quietly die in with me by his side and listening to his last breath. I have forgiven my sister and brother-in-law for not coming to his funeral. I have forgiven my mom too for not being willing to forgive her grandchildren and seek reconciliation with their using ways of financial gain but never repaying the debt of respect. I still pray for this but I forgive to give her room to see love as He has loved us. We have to remember what Jesus said to those who live Salvation’s way of forgiveness; “This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” And you forgive. Forgive any and all situations to remain surrounded in His love. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. NJ Emmaus in Oct. Kairos 56. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Prayers for a friend and his wife for a baby to be born. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.
