Gospel of Matthew Ch 24 v- Five thru Nine

5 Since the bridegroom was long delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. 6 At midnight, there was a cry, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise ones replied, ‘No, for there may not be enough for us and you. Go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.’

Do you ever feel unprepared? You forgot something. You didn’t include God in your decision or plans. The foundation is starting to crumble it seems God stopped His visitation. Now your left holding the shame in your hands. God must be the very first thought when planning anything in your life. He must be the go to person to discuss with every step you’ll take. No rush decisions when you call on God First. You must seek to not look foolish and find the answer in the practice you live each and every day. Our practice leads us to the Word of God and what God has to say. God will remind you to live His Corporal Works of Mercy combined with every aspect His Spiritual Works of Mercy say.  Feeding the Hungry starts out the list people you hate to see. Sitting on a corner or in front of a store looking very gloomy indeed. Give them something to eat or drink and you will see the smiles of Salvation absolutely free. Giving someone something to eat can happen in any surroundings be it work or play share what you have and don’t forget to pray.

Clothing the Naked seems hard to answer; Who is naked in today’s world? More than we know but the answer is the homeless. They have no place to store clothes so therefore they go through clothes daily without a fresh change. Don’t be afraid to ask them if they’d like a new shirt or some fresh under pants that will give them a smile. Seriously, they seek what you have to share. Be not afraid to ask but if you struggle with this give some clothes monthly to the local Care Center who provides clothes at low cast helping others have employment in your community. Sheltering the Homeless is very hard to accomplish. Unless you are abundantly wealthy you must seek to share your help of others who help those who need a place to stay. Specifically, I mean organizations that help house the homeless. Again, The Salvation Army comes to mind or Habitat for Humanity.

Visiting the Imprisoned surely is difficult.  You just can’t show up at a prison and say, “I’m here to visit the imprisoned.” Nope. You gotta use and organization like Kairos or find a need by reaching out to the Chaplain of the prison camp and you’ll hear the other programs available to volunteer in. Comforting the Sick is easy but tough for there are hospitals in every city across America. Go and volunteer to help in any way you can. Ask the office at your Church if anyone is sick and visit them with a smile in hand and the blessings of prayer.  There is somebody homebound that needs your depth of love. Now Burying the Dead. It’s hard to say goodbye even to people you didn’t know that well but I encourage you to attend the funerals of people at your Church and see the difference just being there for grieving families will show. Forget not the Spiritual Works of Mercy for they announce the Good News of Salvation you forever share as in the know. Amen.

The SEVEN SPIRITUAL WORKS OF MERCY are Teaching the Ignorant, Praying for the Living and the Dead, Correcting Sinners, Counseling Those in Doubt, Consoling the Sorrowful, Bearing Wrongs Patiently and Forgiving Wrongs Willingly.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Prayers for a friend and his wife for a baby to be born. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Foolish ones starting pouting**

Delayed was bridegroom

Drowsy became all

Asleep fell soon

Cry midnight call

Bridegroom behold they shouted

Him meet out come

Foolish ones starting pouting

Wise ones would shun

Oil yours give us some

Out our lamps are going

Replying the wise for fun

Enough not for our showing

Merchants instead go

Yourselves some buy

Preparation always show

Him never deny
