06-12-2023 Matthew Ch 23 v-2932 Family admits history commits nothing ignored
Gospel of Matthew Ch 23 v- 29 thru 32
29 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the memorials of the righteous, 30 and you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have joined them in shedding the prophets’ blood.’ 31 Thus you bear witness against yourselves that you are the children of those who murdered the prophets; 32 now fill up what your ancestors measured out!”
Here we go, the final woe and it’s no joke. It is the most severe accusation of all. Jesus portrays the scribes and Pharisees as standing in the same confinement as their ancestors who murdered the prophets and the righteous of old. In spite of memorializing the assassinated dead by erecting their tombs and decorating their memorials with their honor they also begin claiming that they would not have joined in their ancestors’ sins if they had lived in their days, the scribes and Pharisees are true children of their relatives and are defiantly ordered by Jesus to fill up what those ancestors measured out. This desire of Jesus reflects the Jewish notion that there was an allotted measure of suffering that had to be completed before God’s final conclusion would take place in judging the world for its participation in sin over salvation.
Can you identify with this type of judgment from past family histories that can never be replaced? Do you have some sort of family secret you’d rather not discuss or deal with as a needed healing from past mistakes? Family members sometimes choose this accord no rectifying or forgiveness just plain hostility excluding compassion, understanding and empathy one would give to heal. When we heal, we become one with God’s purpose of Truth over denial forgiving to find goodwill in everything life has to offer. My two oldest children have been acting this way for the last two years ending the pandemic with a letter of recusal disqualifying me as their father unwilling to forgive what I experienced from forced trauma that caused a divorce and other actions of lost judgment.
I ran from the shame of being raped by a man when my last year of being a teenager saw me entering the Navy as shy kid from a university town in Florida who was quiet, skinny and weak. Sometimes others actions can make you question who you are and what getting even means in the subconscious of the afflicted. We become what was done to us out of a desire to even the score instead of forgive. We become covert unwilling to share our shame seeking a hidden life that somehow evens the score but in reality makes you separate from God and the ability to know Redemption. Please pray my children find this type of forgiveness in their hearts and allow me to know my grandchildren where we say we are sorry and act in this repentant way. Healing over hate. Amen.

I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. Silence for the prayers of others dealing with the war in Ukraine. In the Holy Spirit we pray our brothers in Kairos especially a prayer for our men in blue. We pray for Holy Mother Church. We pray for the intersession of our Holy Mother for the sister of Jackie her name is Loreen. Daily prayers for our neighbor Thelma. Prayers for a friend and his wife for a baby to be born. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.
