Gospel of Matthew Ch 20 v- 29 thru 34

29 As they left Jericho, a great crowd followed him. 30 Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, “[Lord,] Son of David, have pity on us!” 31 The crowd warned them to be silent, but they called out all the more, “Lord, Son of David, have pity on us!” 32 Jesus stopped and called them and said, “What do you want me to do for you?” 33 They answered him, “Lord, let our eyes be opened.” 34 Moved with pity, Jesus touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight, and followed him.

Today I’m going to tell you a story. Brief but true. About the effects of being a slave. A slave to wrong over right and what it can obtain. It will be brief for only a slight amount of time has been given to know the depths of one’s pain. Only my eyewitness doesn’t really tell it all you know. We visit the sick when called upon by the grace of God to show. Especially when it’s a friend we worship with in the know. We learned recently our friend was an identical twin having a sister in the hospital for a transplant. I think it’s her liver but it may be the kidneys as well. I’ve witnessed her receive dialysis while being there speaking God’s Truth. Either or is one tough operation as life led her down a rabbit hole we all have to learn to ignore. Her sister is sick. Life’s choices can do that. It is the Devil’s hope to see you die with your soul in his hands. God denied. Hell bound.

But it is our hope that by our presence this can be changed. You can see the desires of knowing healing and the unity one has with others even though they are tied to a bed for their own safety being pumped with all sort of healing drugs. “Please,” her eyes were saying as we walked in for our second visit in a month. This twin sister has been in the hospital for more than four months trying to find healing in the midst of death-defying tactics medicine offers as hope. I replied looking intently at her mouth to try and read her lips of freedom. “What can I do for you?” “Please, untie my hand.” Lifting her arm and showing me the precautionary straps that held her from causing any problems with any type of medical fluids or breathing tubes to be altered. For example, her IV’s, her feeding tubes and her life-giving breaths she can’t afford to alter. “I will ask the nurse,” I replied moved with pity identifying with what Jesus does feel; pity.

Her freedom was tied to a bed knowing her healing doesn’t go right when we pull out tubes that must remain wed. We immediately begin reading Scripture to her allowing her to hear the days Mass readings from start to finish as we close with the Divine Mercy and a Rosary of love, faith and hope of His grace and mercy as the healing aspects we all need from God as well as our family and friends by prayer. As we were leaving, I told her the following. “Remember, your sufferings are a very powerful tool of God’s grace. Offer your suffering for the souls of others who are in anguish as much as you and find His strength to know absolute healing. Suffering for God is very powerful and can be utilized as the healing power of Truth.” She nodded as to say, “OK.” And I replied with, “If I could, I’d give you a big kiss to say God Bless You.” She offered a wide smile my wife and I both haven’t ever seen truly warming our hearts as my wife Toni replied, “And I’d allow him to.” Comforting the sick is a Corporal Work of Mercy. Pray! Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. **Open our eyes**

Him followed by crowd great leaving Jericho’s state

Blind men two roadside sitting Jesus calling a truce

Lord us have pity David’s Son of fate

More and more calling even though crowd rebuked

Them called by Jesus stopping

You do by Me what

Open our eyes a popping

Pity moved our Lord just enough

Eyes theirs touched by Jesus

Sight theirs immediately regained

Him followed by them both apparent

Praising Him for their sight remained
