Gospel of Matthew Ch 17 v- 14 thru 21

14 When they came to the crowd a man approached, knelt down before him, 15 and said, “Lord, have pity on my son, for he is a lunatic and suffers severely; often he falls into fire, and often into water. 16 I brought him to your disciples, but they could not cure him.” 17 Jesus said in reply, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long will I be with you? How long will I endure you? Bring him here to me.” 18 Jesus rebuked him and the demon came out of him, and from that hour the boy was cured. 19 Then the disciples approached Jesus in private and said, “Why could we not drive it out?” 20 He said to them, “Because of your little faith. Amen, I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (21)

Questions that came to us this week by an inmate we teach at a local Florida prison. Why do we believe what we believe? Why do we teach? Faith the size of a mustard seed helps those who are weak. Freedom from sin to believe we replied to seek Jesus as our Savior to complete. This begins with questions from the meek asking why we do this or why we do that to compete showing your absolute surrender I see each and every week. My wife Toni and I work with a catechumen inside the walls of a local prison. Every week we attend Mass on Wednesdays many times praying the Rosary or discussing dogmas of the Church before Mass led by Toni.

We then teach about 25 men the Universal faith in a catechism class every other Tuesday where we discuss how the foundation of the faith comes from the Word of God discussing the foundational aspects of the Roman Catholic Church. We discuss the dogmas of the Church as written in the Catechism of the Catholic Church a guide that

examples the Dogmas of Papal Infallibility, the divinity of Christ, the Immaculate Conception, the Assumption of Mary and the real Presence of the Eucharist. These are what we teach and the list of questions centered on basic understandings of why the Church follows the Seven Sacraments in living for Christ Crucified.

His first question was; Is Confession mandatory? Toni answered our beliefs the following way: The obligation (an act or course of action to which a person is morally or legally bound; a duty or commitment) of annual confession applies only to those in serious sin, also known as mortal sin. The church’s Code of Canon Law reads this way: “After having reached the age of discretion, each member of the faithful is obliged to confess faithfully his or her grave sins at least once a year” (Canon 989).  I will discuss his next question tomorrow (What is the purpose of Confession?) and better describe the contents of shedding sin in confessionals and why. Please tune in tomorrow. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for Boston aka Keith. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. Silence for the prayers of others dealing with the war in Ukraine. In the Holy Spirit we pray our brothers in Kairos especially a prayer for our men in blue. We pray for Holy Mother Church. We pray for our Holy Mother for the sister of Jackie. Daily prayers for our neighbor Thelma. Prayers for a friend and his wife for a baby to be born. Praying for Cheryl and Joe. **Faith little Jesus replied**

Man knelt before Jesus from approaching crowd

Son mine have pity he shouted very loud

Lunatic he is severely suffering more than should be allowed

Water jumper and fire he falls into proudly avowed

Disciples Yours him cure not

Replying Jesus an absolute spot

Generation perverse faithless to rot

You be with how long as though they had forgot

You endure for how much time

Him bring here I’ll show you he is Mine

Him rebuked by Jesus out came the demon in kind

Cured was the boy hour that Jesus made him fine

Approaching disciples privately wanting to whine

Out drive not us why was that in line

Faith little Jesus replied you must look to the Sublime

Size the seeds of mustard faith strongest even if blind

Faith this size moves mountains many people climb

You nothing impossible to be when you find the time

To live in my Word Jesus asks us to mind

You must call on the Lord Who is Truth of the Divine
