Gospel of Matthew Ch 14 v- 26 thru 33
26 When the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were terrified. “It is a ghost,” they said, and they cried out in fear. 27 At once [Jesus] spoke to them, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” 28 Peter said to him in reply, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” 29 He said, “Come.” Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw how [strong] the wind was he became frightened; and, beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 After they got into the boat, the wind died down. 33 Those who were in the boat did him homage, saying, “Truly, you are the Son of God.”
Over the next few days, I will share some homily work of St. Anthony as translated from Latin into English by Dr. Paul Spilsbury. Paul Spilsbury is an Academic Dean and Professor of New Testament at Regent College in Vancouver. His work represents over a thousand pages of homilies of St. Anthony of Padua. I will share a third of the Saints work according to the First Book of Chronicles.
David gave the purest gold: to make the likeness of the chariot of the cherubims, spreading their wings and veiling the ark of the covenant of the Lord. [1 Chron 28.18]
- Genesis speaks of The land of Hevilath, where gold groweth, and the gold of that land is very good. [Gen 2.11-12]
The name Hevilath is supposed to mean ‘bringing forth’. It stands for Holy Scripture, which is The earth [which] of itself bringeth forth fruit, first the blade, then the ear, afterwards the full corn in the ear.[Mk 4.28] By the blade we understand the allegorical sense of Scripture, which builds up faith in accordance with the words: Let the earth bring forth the green [growing] herb. [Gen 1.11] By the ear we understand the moral sense, which gives form to our behavior and pierces the mind with its sweetness; and by the full grain is represented the anagogical sense, which treats of the fulness of joy and of angelic blessedness.
So, in the land of Hevilath is found the finest gold, because from the text of the divine page we mine holy understanding. Just as gold is superior to other metals, so understanding is better than mere knowledge. A person who has no understanding of the deeper meaning of Scripture does not grasp even the literal sense properly.
- Some scholars say that the name David means ‘merciful’, others that it means ‘strong- armed’, or else ‘desirable in appearance’. David, then, stands for the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was merciful in his Incarnation, strong-armed in his Passion, and who will be desirable for us to behold in eternal blessedness. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for Boston aka Keith. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. Silence for the prayers of others dealing with the war in Ukraine. In the Holy Spirit we pray our brothers in Kairos especially a prayer for our men in blue. We pray for Holy Mother Church. We pray for our Holy Mother. Daily prayers for our neighbor Thelma. Prayers for a friend and his wife for a baby to be born. Novena Day six Cheryl and Joe. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Peter asked water walking me command**
Terrified were they seeing sea walking Jesus state
The disciples thought they had seen a ghost take a stand
Speaking Jesus said courage take it is I who holds your fate
Afraid be not as Peter asked water walking me command
Come said He beckoning with His smile grand
Water walking Peter faithfully began
Frightened from the wind strong Peter could no longer stand
Jesus saved him from sinking by stretching out His hand
Me save Lord
Faith little you
Doubt you did
Action you withdrew
Down died wind
Boat he got in
Homage by others did begin
God’s Son you’re truly without sin
