The Acts of the Apostles Chapter 5 Verse 17 thru 26

17 Then the high priest rose up and all his companions, that is, the party of the Sadducees, and, filled with jealousy, 18 laid hands upon the apostles and put them in the public jail. 19 But during the night, the angel of the Lord opened the doors of the prison, led them out, and said, 20 “Go and take your place in the temple area, and tell the people everything about this life.” 21 When they heard this, they went to the temple early in the morning and taught. When the high priest and his companions arrived, they convened the Sanhedrin, the full senate of the Israelites, and sent to the jail to have them brought in. 22 But the court officers who went did not find them in the prison, so they came back and reported, 23 “We found the jail securely locked and the guards stationed outside the doors, but when we opened them, we found no one inside.” 24 When they heard this report, the captain of the temple guard and the chief priests were at a loss about them, as to what this would come to. 25 Then someone came in and reported to them, “The men whom you put in prison are in the temple area and are teaching the people.” 26 Then the captain and the court officers went and brought them in, but without force, because they were afraid of being stoned by the people.

Acts 5:17-26 recounts a pivotal moment in the early church where the apostles faced imprisonment for preaching the gospel. Following the miraculous healing and bold proclamations about Jesus, the high priest and Sadducees, filled with jealousy, arrested them again. Yet, an angel of the Lord intervened, freeing them from their prison cell with a divine command: “Go, stand in the temple courts and tell the people all about this new life.”

This passage serves as a powerful reminder that, no matter the circumstances we find ourselves in, the doors of our prisons—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual—can be miraculously opened. The angels represent God’s power and willingness to deliver those who are faithful. The apostles did not remain silent; their commitment to proclaiming Jesus as the Messiah never wavered despite the threat of persecution.

Belief in Jesus Christ as the redeemer of the world is key to experiencing liberation from our own metaphorical prisons. When we confess Him as Lord, we tap into the transformative power of His grace. Each confession is an affirmation of faith, a declaration that we believe in the one who has the authority over all creation.

In times of despair, when shackles seem heavy and walls feel insurmountable, remember that liberation is at hand. Just as the angel freed the apostles, so too can He liberate us from our struggles. Our confession ignites divine intervention, paving the way for our freedom. So, speak boldly of your faith in Jesus Christ and trust that He can and will open doors in your life, leading you into the fullness of His promises. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

04-15-2026 Acts 5 v1726

**The Angel of the Lord Opened The Door**

In the shadow of the Temple, where the elders stride,

A whisper of rebellion stirs, a faithful band inside.

The apostles preach of freedom, of grace that brings release,

Yet the high priests plot in silence, wishing chaos to cease.

Amidst the fear and fury, the Spirit’s breath ignites,

They gather in the daylight, proclaiming wondrous sights.

Miracles a-plenty, the sick are made whole,

A message of redemption flows deeply through their soul.

But soon the guards are summoned, their hearts are filled with pain,

“These men must be arrested; their cause is full of shame!”

In the dead of night, they seize them, chains of doubt are cast,

Yet the Lord, with mighty power, will shatter every fast.

A heavenly escape unfolds as angels break the night,

“Go forth and preach the promise; let your hearts burn bright.”

Unfettered by the darkness, they step beyond the walls,

To share a Gospel story that will never ever stall.

Before the council’s anger, they stand as lions’ pride,

With unwavering conviction, the truth cannot subside.

“Judge you if it’s righteous, to follow man or God?

We must obey the heavens; it’s the only path we trod.”

As dawn breaks with a purpose, they face their foes anew,

With courage like a wildfire, igniting hearts so true.

Though chains may bind the body, the spirit runs to be,

In the name of Christ, they rise, forever bold, forever free. Amen.
