The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 28 Verse One thru Ten

1 After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, approached, rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. 3 His appearance was like lightning and his clothing was white as snow. 4 The guards were shaken with fear of him and became like dead men. 5 Then the angel said to the women in reply, “Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. 6 He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead, and he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him.’ Behold, I have told you.” 8 Then they went away quickly from the tomb, fearful yet overjoyed, and ran to announce this to his disciples. 9 And behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”

Matthew 28:1-10 encapsulates the profound moment of Jesus’ resurrection, marking a cornerstone in Christian faith and the promise of salvation. The passage begins with Mary Magdalene and the other Mary going to the tomb early on the first day of the week, seeking to pay their respects to Jesus. Their journey signifies not just mourning, but the anticipation of a divine encounter.

When they arrive, a powerful earthquake shakes the ground as an angel of the Lord descends from heaven, rolling back the stone that seals the tomb. This dramatic event underlines that death could not contain Jesus; the stone rolled away serves as a symbol of the obstacles removed by His resurrection. The angel’s proclamation, “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said,” confirms the fulfillment of Jesus’ promise and the core belief in His victory over death.

This moment serves as proof that Jesus has risen, affirming that salvation is indeed real. The angel commissions the women to spread the news of the resurrection to the disciples, highlighting the inclusivity of the gospel message. The resurrection not only assures believers of eternal life but also empowers them to share the hope found in Christ.

As the women run from the tomb, filled with fear and joy, they encounter the risen Jesus, who greets them with the words, “Do not be afraid.” This statement reassures believers of God’s love and presence in their lives, dispelling fear and replacing it with hope. This is a powerful testimony to the reality of resurrection and the gift of salvation, encouraging believers to live in the light of this miraculous truth. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Do Not Be Afraid**

In the breaking dawn, with the shadows still,

Two women approach with hearts that thrill,

To the tomb where hope seemed lost, they tread,

With spices and sorrow longing for the dead.

The earth trembles softly, a heavenly quake,

An angel descends, a light to awake,

His countenance bright, like the sun’s first light,

Clothed in pure joy, dispelling the night.

“Fear not,” he declares, “for He is not here,

The stone’s rolled away; the path now is clear.

He’s risen, just as He promised you so,

Go tell His disciples, to Galilee they’ll go.”

With hearts full of wonder, they run and they weave,

Joy overtakes them, the faith to believe,

“Death has been conquered, new life has begun,

The promise fulfilled in the rise of the Son.”

In that moment of glory, their fears melt away,

Emboldened by grace, they go forth and say,

He lives, He reigns, the Savior adored,

In Him, every heart can be fully restored.

So share this good news, let all voices raise,

Of His glorious triumph, let all give Him praise,

For in the new dawn, love’s victory is found,

In the story of grace, where His hope does abound. Amen.
