03-01-2026 Matthew 17 v0109 Rise And Do Not Be Afraid
The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 17 Verse One thru Nine
1 After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with him. 4 Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5 While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud cast a shadow over them, then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell prostrate and were very much afraid. 7 But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Rise, and do not be afraid.” 8 And when the disciples raised their eyes, they saw no one else but Jesus alone. 9 As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, “Do not tell the vision to anyone until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”
In Matthew 17:1-9, we witness the profound moment of the Transfiguration, where Jesus reveals His divine glory to Peter, James, and John atop a mountain. As He shines with radiant light, accompanied by Moses and Elijah, the disciples are enveloped in awe and fear. In this transformative encounter, God speaks, urging them to “Listen to Him.” This divine command resonates deeply within our souls, reminding us that when we relinquish our grasp on our own lives in surrender to God’s will, His voice will bellow with clarity and purpose within our own souls.
As we navigate the complexities of our world, we may often feel overwhelmed by fear and uncertainty. Yet, in this passage, Jesus comforts His disciples with a gentle command: “Rise and be not afraid.” This is not just an encouragement; it is a declaration of who we are called to be. With the power of Christ dwelling within us, we, too, can rise above the challenges that life presents. We are invited to embrace the joy of salvation, to practice, pray, and proclaim the goodness of God in our daily lives.
Let this message embolden us to step into our divine calling. As we open ourselves to the transformative work of Christ, we find that fear diminishes and courage grows. The divine power that once shone brightly in Jesus now illuminates our own spirits, empowering us to share hope and love with those around us. So, rise, dear friends—embrace this power and walk boldly in faith, for you are not alone. The voice of God is with you, urging you to follow Him unwaveringly. Amen.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

Ephesians 6:17-20
03-01-2026 Matthew 17 v0109
**Rise And Do Not Be Afraid**
Upon a mountain, high and bright,
Three souls ascended to the light.
The Master led with love and grace,
To unveil a sacred, holy space.
Peter, John, and James stood near,
In awe and wonder, gripped by fear.
As clouds enfolded, bright and bold,
The beauty of heaven began to unfold.
And there, before their trembling eyes,
The glow of His glory lit the skies.
His face like the sun, so radiant, pure,
In that moment, they felt the lure.
Elijah came, Moses by his side,
Two prophets of old, in whom they confide.
They spoke of His fate, the journey ahead,
The path of the cross, where He would tread.
“Lord, let us build!” Peter exclaimed,
Amidst the splendor, his heart uncontained.
But a voice like thunder, from clouds above,
Spoke wisdom and truth, a message of love.
“This is my Son, my Chosen One,
Listen to Him, for His will shall be done.”
In fearful silence, they bowed their heads,
Knowing the weight of the words He spreads.
Then Jesus approached with gentle care,
“Arise, my friends, do not despair.
Tell no one of this vision you’ve seen,
Until the Son of Man is raised and redeemed.”
With hearts transformed and souls set free,
They descended the mountain, in unity.
A glimpse of glory, a moment divine,
A call to follow, the Light to shine.
For in the shadows, amidst worldly strife,
They carried His message, the hope of life.
From that holy place, they’d learned to impart,
The love of the Savior that shines in each heart. Amen.
