The Gospel of Mark Chapter 5 Verse 21 thru 34
21 When Jesus had crossed again [in the boat] to the other side, a large crowd gathered around him, and he stayed close to the sea. 22 One of the synagogue officials, named Jairus, came forward. Seeing him he fell at his feet 23 and pleaded earnestly with him, saying, “My daughter is at the point of death. Please, come lay your hands on her that she may get well and live.” 24 He went off with him, and a large crowd followed him and pressed upon him. 25 There was a woman afflicted with hemorrhages for twelve years. 26 She had suffered greatly at the hands of many doctors and had spent all that she had. Yet she was not helped but only grew worse. 27 She had heard about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak. 28 She said, “If I but touch his clothes, I shall be cured.” 29 Immediately her flow of blood dried up. She felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction. 30 Jesus, aware at once that power had gone out from him, turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who has touched my clothes?” 31 But his disciples said to him, “You see how the crowd is pressing upon you, and yet you ask, ‘Who touched me?’” 32 And he looked around to see who had done it. 33 The woman, realizing what had happened to her, approached in fear and trembling. She fell down before Jesus and told him the whole truth. 34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be cured of your affliction.”
Mark 5:21-34 recounts the powerful story of a woman who had been suffering from a bleeding condition for twelve long years. As Jesus returned to the other side of the sea, a large crowd gathered around Him, illustrating the magnetic pull of His presence and the hope He represented. This narrative is significant in multiple ways, showcasing both the desperation of humanity and the boundless compassion of Christ.
The woman, having exhausted all her resources on doctors without finding healing, embodies a profound sense of desperation. Her condition not only rendered her physically unwell but also socially ostracized her, as she was considered unclean by the laws of the time. Yet, in her vulnerability, she summoned the courage to approach Jesus, believing that simply touching His cloak would be enough for her to be healed. This act symbolizes an essential aspect of faith—trusting that even a small encounter with the divine has the power to transform lives.
When she touched Jesus, immediately her bleeding ceased, and she felt in her body that she was healed. Jesus, aware that power had gone out from Him, turned to the crowd, searching for the one who had touched Him. This moment reveals a profound truth: Jesus values personal connection and individual faith. He doesn’t just heal; He seeks relationship.
In our daily lives, touching Jesus—through prayer, worship, and community—becomes a vital aspect of living redeemed. It reminds us that no matter the struggles we face, His presence is always available. Just as the woman found healing and restoration, we too can experience transformation through our faith in Him. Embracing Him daily reinforces our identity as the redeemed, continually transforming us into vessels of His grace. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. 02-03-2026 Mark 5 v2134 Who Touched Me?
**Who Touched Me?**
In shadows dim, the crowd does swell,
As Jesus walks, the stories tell,
A leader’s plea, a daughter’s need,
Hope flickers bright where faith takes seed.
Through throngs of voices, whispers twine,
A woman suffers, her spirit undermined,
Twelve years of searching of pain profound,
In her heart’s silence, a yearning sound.
If I could touch His garment’s seam,
A fleeting hope, a sacred dream,
With trembling hands, she pressed her way,
Through doubt and fear, toward light of day.
The brush of linen, a gentle claim,
In that moment, her life aflame,
A surge of healing, her burden ceased,
From chaos released, her spirit increased.
Jesus turned, the crowd stood still,
“Who touched Me?” echoed, a powerful thrill,
Amidst the many, a gaze divine,
He sought her face, His love to define.
With trembling heart, she shared her tale,
Unveiling shadows where fears prevail,
“Daughter, your faith has made you whole,
Go in peace,” He spoke, restoring her soul. Amen.
