The Letter to the Hebrews Chapter 2 Verse 14 thru 18
14 Now since the children share in blood and flesh, he likewise shared in them, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and free those who through fear of death had been subject to slavery all their life. 16 Surely he did not help angels but rather the descendants of Abraham; 17 therefore, he had to become like his brothers in every way, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest before God to expiate the sins of the people. 18 Because he himself was tested through what he suffered, he is able to help those who are being tested.
In Hebrews 2:14-18, the author delivers a profound message about the nature of Christ’s incarnation and the ultimate victory over death, which is personified by the devil. These verses illuminate how Jesus, by taking on human flesh, became our perfect Savior. “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity,” the text states, underscoring that in becoming human, Christ was able to confront the very real enemy of death.
The devil, described as the one who has the power of death, sought to use fear and despair to enslave humanity. In His earthly ministry, Jesus engaged in a cosmic battle against these forces, demonstrating that He is not merely a servant of God but God himself, who has power over death. Through His own death and resurrection, He effectively shattered the hold that the devil had, liberating those who had been held captive by the fear of dying.
Verse 17 emphasizes the necessity for Christ to be made “like his brothers and sisters in every way,” so that He might be a merciful and faithful high priest. This role enables Him to make atonement for our sins, bridging the chasm that separates us from God. The significance of Christ as Life Eternal cannot be overstated; through His resurrection, He offers eternal life to all who believe in Him.
As we reflect on these verses, let us remember that while the devil wields death as a tool of torment, Jesus stands as the embodiment of hope and eternal life. In turning to Him, we find freedom from fear and the promise of life everlasting. May our hearts rejoice in the victory of Christ over death, affirming that He is our true source of life. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**To Expiate the Sins of the People**
In shadows deep, the serpent lies,
With breath of fear and whispered lies,
But the Son of Man took flesh and bone,
To stand against the dark alone.
He shared our grief, our pain, our plight,
To break the chains and bring the light.
Through death, He shattered the stronghold’s claim,
To free us all from sin and shame.
For in our trials, He knows our way,
A faithful guide in night and day.
He walked the path of suffering too,
So we can rise, made whole, made new.
Compassionate high priest, heart so true,
In every heartache, He walks with you.
With gentle hands, He lifts us high,
In love’s embrace, we learn to fly.
So let us grasp this grace divine,
For in His life, our hope will shine.
Through Him, we’ll rise, no fear, no fight,
As sons and daughters bask in light. Amen.
