02-01-2026 Matthew 5 v0112 Your Reward Will Be Great In Heaven
The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 5 Verse One thru Twelve
1 When he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. 2 He began to teach them, saying: 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. 6 Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. 10 Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you [falsely] because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Matthew 5:1-12 introduces us to the Beatitudes, a powerful declaration of blessedness that lays the foundation for Christian living. In this passage, Jesus, seated on a mountainside, shares profound truths that resonate through time and transcend cultures. Each Beatitude begins with the word “Blessed,” signifying divine favor and joy that comes from a deep relationship with God.
The Beatitudes reveal the heart of the Gospel and serve as a guide on the path to salvation. They invite us to acknowledge our spiritual poverty, mourn over our sins, and seek meekness and righteousness. As we embrace these attitudes, we become more attuned to God’s grace. Each example of blessedness illustrates qualities that reflect the character of Christ, showing us how to live in accordance with His will.
For instance, when Jesus says, “Blessed are the poor in spirit,” He emphasizes the importance of humility and dependence on God. Recognizing our need for a Savior is the first step towards salvation. As we turn to Jesus, acknowledging Him as our Lord and Savior, we receive His grace and experience true blessedness.
Moreover, the Beatitudes promise comfort, fulfillment, and reward. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted,” speaks to our struggles and pains. Jesus assures us that our sorrows will not be in vain, for He stands ready to provide healing and support. The ultimate promise found in the Beatitudes, “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven,” reminds us that our faithfulness to Christ, even in adversity, grants us eternal glory.
In embracing the Beatitudes, we say “yes” to Jesus and embark on the path of salvation. They are not merely guidelines but the essence of a life transformed by His love. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Your Reward Will Be Great In Heaven**
Upon the hill, the crowds draw near,
To hear the words of hope sincere.
In silence, hearts begin to yearn,
For wisdom’s light, for lessons learned.
The meek, the mourners, those in plight,
In shadows cast, there shines a light.
“Blessed,” He speaks, with gentle grace,
For in their sorrow, they’ll find His face.
The hungry souls, with longing hearts,
Thirst for justice, where love imparts.
In righteousness, their spirit thrives,
For in His arms, true peace arrives.
The merciful, in kindness spread,
Their hands outstretched, though trials tread.
For mercy, like a river’s flow,
Shall come to them, as they bestow.
The pure in heart, who seek the right,
With eyes unclouded, see the light.
In reverence, they draw so near,
To glimpse the sacred, to know no fear.
The peacemakers, with gentle might,
Bridge divides, by day and night.
“Blessed are they,” His voice does soar,
For called the children of God, they’re even more.
In persecution, hearts may break,
Yet in this path, they find what’s staked.
For heaven’s kingdom waits above,
As they endure, embraced by love. Amen.
