01-27-2026 Mark 3 v3135 Whoever Does The Will of God
The Gospel of Mark Chapter 3 Verse 31 thru 35
31 His mother and his brothers arrived. Standing outside they sent word to him and called him. 32 A crowd seated around him told him, “Your mother and your brothers and your sisters are outside asking for you.” 33 But he said to them in reply, “Who are my mother and [my] brothers?” 34 And looking around at those seated in the circle he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 35 [For] whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.”
In Mark 3:31-35, we encounter a profound moment in the ministry of Jesus Christ. As He is teaching and surrounded by a crowd, His mother and brothers arrive, seeking to speak with Him. When informed of their presence, Jesus responds, “Who are my mother and my brothers?… Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.” This declaration shifts the understanding of family beyond blood relations to a spiritual connection grounded in obedience to God.
In this passage, Jesus redefines what it means to be part of His family. It’s not merely about earthly ties; rather, it is about a relationship forged through the commitment to do God’s will. This invitation extends to each one of us. Just as Jesus embraced those who followed Him and did God’s work, He beckons us into a deeper relationship with Him. When we align our lives with God’s purpose, we become part of this blessed family, sharing in the richness of His love and grace.
For many, the notion of being a relative of Jesus may seem distant or unattainable. However, the truth is that God desires for each of us to be His children, brothers, and sisters through faith and action. By engaging in prayer, reading the Scriptures, serving others, and living out the teachings of Christ, we reflect our commitment to God’s will. In doing so, we are welcomed into the family of Jesus, finding our identity and belonging in Him.
Let us remember that becoming part of the family of Christ is an open invitation to all who choose to follow His ways. May we strive to do God’s will, for in doing so, we become true siblings to our Savior. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Whoever Does The Will of God**
In a humble home where the crowd did draw near,
His kin sought to call Him, their voices sincere.
“Mama and brothers,” they sought to explain,
Yet He paused, a light shone, unbound by our chain.
“Who’s my mother? Who’s my brother? Hear this,
To follow God’s will is a bond sealed in bliss.
Those who do His work, in love they stand tall,
In the heart of the family, they find their true call.”
In that sacred moment, redefining the line,
He spoke of a family in faith, intertwined.
Not flesh and not blood, but the spirit we share,
In the kingdom of heaven, each soul laid bare.
So gather together, in unity’s embrace,
As children of God, we all find our place.
In love and in service, our true ties will grow,
For those who live righteously, they are His, you know. Amen.
