The Gospel of John Chapter 20 Verse One Thru Eight

1 On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb.  2 So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them, “They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don’t know where they put him.” 3 So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb. 4 They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb first; 5 he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in. 6 When Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there, 7 and the cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place. 8 Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed.

In John 20:1-8, we encounter a profound moment of revelation as Mary Magdalene discovers the empty tomb. Distressed by the absence of Jesus’ body, she quickly informs Peter and the beloved disciple. Upon hearing her news, they rush to the tomb, and Peter, in his characteristic impulsiveness, enters first. What he sees inside—the linen cloths lying there, untouched—sparks a transformative moment. It is a deeply human response, one that leads him to believe in the resurrection of Christ. Just like Peter, we, too, are invited to enter the tomb of our doubts and fears and emerge with a renewed faith in the risen Christ.

The theme “Jesus Christ is risen” resonates powerfully, not only within these verses but also throughout the fellowship of Christians engaged in acts of faith. One such transformative experience is the retreat known as A Walk to Emmaus. This weekend journey is designed to deepen one’s spiritual life, often emphasizing the message that “He is risen indeed.” Participants engage in reflections and teachings that draw them closer to the heart of Jesus’ resurrection and the impact it has on our lives.

As we reflect on Peter’s journey into the tomb, let us remember that, like him, we can confront our own uncertainties and emerge filled with belief. The resurrection is not just a historical claim but a living reality that invites us to experience the life-changing power of Christ today. Just as Peter’s encounter led him to proclaim the truth of Jesus’ victory over death, so we too are called to share this good news with a world yearning for hope. Jesus Christ is risen! He is risen indeed. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

12-27-2025 John 20 v0108

**He Saw and Believed**

In the stillness of the dawn’s first light,

Mary stood weeping, heart heavy with fright.

The stone was rolled back, the tomb was laid bare,

Her Lord, she thought, vanished into thin air.

With hurried steps, she sought out the grave,

Through shadows and sorrow, the One she would save.

“Where have they taken my Master, my King?”

Her heart was in turmoil, each breath a deep sting.

She ran to the others, her voice filled with fear,

“Come quickly! Come see! The tomb—it is clear!”

Peter and John, with swift feet, they raced,

To witness the wonder and confirm what she’d faced.

In the tomb’s quiet depths, linens were found,

The wrappings lay empty, the silence profound.

Faith stirred in their hearts, as they pondered the sign,

The promise fulfilled—life woven divine.

Then John, ever faithful, looked in with new sight,

Believing that dawn breaks in the darkest night.

For light had pierced the shadows, the stone cast aside,

In the empty tomb, new hope now abides.

Life from the grave, love conquering despair,

In the story of John, we find solace and prayer.

For Easter’s sweet morning brings joy ever bright,

The Savior has risen, our hearts take to flight. Amen.
