12-26-2025 Matthew 10 v1625 No Disciple Is Above His Teacher
The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 10 Verse 16 Thru 25
16 “Behold, I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and simple as doves. 17 But beware of people, for they will hand you over to courts and scourge you in their synagogues, 18 and you will be led before governors and kings for my sake as a witness before them and the pagans. 19 When they hand you over, do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say. You will be given at that moment what you are to say. 20 For it will not be you who speak but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. 21 Brother will hand over brother to death, and the father his child; children will rise up against parents and have them put to death. 22 You will be hated by all because of my name, but whoever endures to the end will be saved. 23 When they persecute you in one town, flee to another. Amen, I say to you, you will not finish the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes. 24 No disciple is above his teacher, no slave above his master. 25 It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, for the slave that he become like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more those of his household!
Matthew 10:18-25 offers a sobering reminder of the challenges faced by those who bear the Name of Jesus. In this passage, Jesus prepares His disciples for the reality of persecution, warning them that they will face opposition from family, friends, and the world at large. He emphasizes that this hostility is a fulfillment of the truth and a sign that they are walking in His footsteps. For those of us who love Jesus, this warning rings all too true.
I understand the pain of being ostracized for one’s faith; I have experienced it personally. My love for Jesus has led my own two oldest children to cancel me. They disagree with my beliefs and view my faith as a source of division rather than a foundation of love. The heartbreak of feeling unwanted by those I cherish is a deep and challenging cross to bear. However, Matthew 10 reminds me and all believers that such animosity is, unfortunately, part of our spiritual journey.
While the hatred we may encounter can be overwhelmingly painful, we must remember that it is far better to endure this temporary suffering on earth than to face eternal rejection in the Kingdom of Heaven. The approval of God is eternal and far outweighs the fleeting acceptance of this world. Jesus assures us that we are not alone—He experienced the same rejection, and His love never falters.
In moments of despair, we can cling to the promise of eternal life with Christ, knowing that our sacrifices here on earth lay down treasures in heaven. May we find strength in knowing that to be counted worthy of His Name—despite the pain—is the highest calling, echoing the eternal truth that loving Jesus is worth every ounce of suffering. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**No Disciple Is Above His Teacher**
In cities and synagogues, they’ll call your name,
Before rulers and kings, you’ll stand just the same.
With wisdom bestowed, don’t fear what they say,
For the Spirit will guide you to light up the way.
Like sheep among wolves in a world cold and dark,
Yet courage will bloom, and faith will embark.
For not the body alone is the price that you pay,
But the soul holds the treasure, come what may.
They’ll twist every word, and they’ll scorn your decree,
But truth is a shield, and the heart holds the key.
Your brothers, your kin, may lead you astray,
But the love of the Father will light up your way.
Persecution comes, as it has from the start,
They’ll strike at your flesh, but not touch your heart.
For a servant is not greater than their own eternal Lord,
In the face of disdain, hold fast to His word onboard.
Remember the prophets, the path they have trod,
Elijah and Daniel, they gave glory to God.
For in every struggle, each tear that you shed,
You share in the trials that Christ boldly led.
So stand firm in faith, when the tempests arise,
For the joy of the Lord is your strength in disguise.
Endure through the heartache, let love intercede,
For the path of the righteous is found in His lead.
And when the world whispers that darkness will win,
Hold tight to the promise, the glory within.
For the message of mercy is louder than strife,
And the story of hope brings the gift of new life. Amen.
