12-22-2025 Luke 1 v4656 The Magnificat Dispersed the Arrogant of Mind and Heart
The Gospel of Luke Chapter One Verse 46 Thru 56
46 And Mary said: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; 47 my spirit rejoices in God my savior. 48 For he has looked upon his handmaid’s lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed. 49 The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. 50 His mercy is from age to age to those who fear him. 51 He has shown might with his arm, dispersed the arrogant of mind and heart. 52 He has thrown down the rulers from their thrones but lifted up the lowly. 53 The hungry he has filled with good things; the rich he has sent away empty. 54 He has helped Israel his servant, remembering his mercy, 55 according to his promise to our fathers, to Abraham and to his descendants forever.” 56 Mary remained with her about three months and then returned to her home.
Luke 1:46-56 contains the profound passage known as the Magnificat, where Mary, the Mother of God, expresses her joy and humility in response to her divine calling. In this beautiful hymn, she praises God for His mercy, recognizing the great things He has done for her and emphasizing her lowly state. This passage is significant not only for its theological implications but also for its central role in Catholic devotion to Mary.
We Catholics venerate Mary because she holds a unique and exalted position within the Christian faith. As the Mother of Jesus, the Incarnate Word of God, she is seen as the first disciple and model of faith. Her acceptance of God’s will at the Annunciation demonstrates profound trust and obedience, qualities we Catholics aspire to emulate. The Magnificat echoes the themes of God’s justice and mercy, reinforcing Mary’s role as intercessor and advocate for humanity, a belief that is deeply rooted in our Catholic traditions.
The veneration of Mary is also reinforced by her pivotal role in the story of salvation. Catholics believe that her consent was essential for the Incarnation, marking her as a co-operator with God in the plan of salvation. Additionally, the Catechism of the Catholic Church emphasizes Mary’s perpetual virginity, her Immaculate Conception, and her Assumption, further elevating her status in the faith.
In Catholic devotion, Mary is not worshipped, which is due to God alone, but honored as a beloved figure who brings believers closer to Christ. Devotional practices such as the Rosary, Marian feast days, and prayers to her highlight her importance and are expressions of love and reverence. Thus, Luke 1:46-56 encapsulates the virtues that we Catholics admire in Mary, fostering a deep and meaningful veneration of the Mother of God. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Dispersed the Arrogant of Mind and Heart The Magnificat**
In the hush of hearts, a song ignites,
A maiden’s voice sings through the nights,
“My soul magnifies the Lord above,
With all my heart, I praise His love.”
In lowly state, He looked on me,
The humble handmaiden, set eternally free.
From now on, all generations will call,
Blessed am I, favored by His thrall.
His mercy flows, from age to age,
With every turn of time’s vast page.
He’s scattered the proud, brought low the wise,
While lifting the meek to the skies.
He fills the hungry with good things to eat,
The rich, in emptiness, He makes them meek.
His promise spoken, so firm and true,
To Abraham’s kin, His grace anew.
Within my womb, His light shall gleam,
A joyous echo of God’s sweet dream.
So let the heavens rejoice and sing,
For Christ is born, our Savior, our King.
As I embrace this holy task,
I hear His voice in all I ask.
For in the silence, His glory grows,
In every heart, His love bestows.
So let us join in this sacred praise,
A song for the ages, through all our days.
“My soul magnifies the Lord on high,”
In every moment, our voices will cry. Amen.
