The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 5 Verse One thru Twelve

1 When he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. 2 He began to teach them, saying: 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. 6 Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God 10 Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you [falsely] because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

In Matthew 5:1-12, commonly known as the Beatitudes, Jesus delivers profound teachings that redefine blessings and challenge societal norms. These verses form part of the Sermon on the Mount, where our Lord presents a radical view of what it means to live a blessed life. He proclaims blessings not upon the wealthy, powerful, or self-righteous, but rather upon the poor in spirit, those who mourn, the meek, and those thirsting for righteousness. Each Beatitude reveals a divine paradox, where earthly struggles are met with heavenly promises.

As we reflect on these verses, it is fitting that the Church remembers today the faithful departed during the celebration of All Souls’ Day. This liturgical observance invites the faithful to honor those who have died, acknowledging the reality of mortality while offering hope in the resurrection. Just as the Beatitudes remind us that those who mourn will be comforted, so too do our prayers for the souls in Purgatory serve as a heartfelt recognition of their current state. They are on a journey toward the fullness of joy, a path that mirrors the longing for righteousness found in the Beatitudes.

The poor in spirit, the meek, and those who hunger and thirst for righteousness resonate deeply with our communion with the departed. When we mourn the loss of our loved ones, we experience a profound poverty of spirit, a recognition of our fragility. Yet, through our remembrance and prayers, we join the chorus of the faithful striving for holiness, seeking to comfort those who have passed, and interceding on their behalf.

As we honor our beloved departed, let us embrace the promises of the Beatitudes, holding fast to the hope of comfort, mercy, and the ultimate fulfillment of God’s kingdom. By living the Beatitudes, we actively participate in the grace of God, knitting together our lives with those of the faithful departed, as we journey together toward eternal hope. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Solemnity of All Saints in the Beatitudes**

In quiet hills where whispers dwell,

The Teacher speaks, His truth to tell,

To hearts awakened, yearning, freed,

He brings the light, the hope we need.

“Blessed are the meek,” His gentle call,

For in their strength, they shall not fall,

With humble souls, they find their place,

In heaven’s realm, they’ll see His face.

“Blessed are the mourners,” echoes, clear,

For comfort’s wings will draw them near,

In depths of sorrow, grace will bloom,

Transforming shadows into Heaven’s room.

“Those hungry souls, who seek the right,”

He promises them the morning light;

For in their righteousness, they’ll never lack,

Their hunger filled, their spirits His fact.

“Blessed are the merciful,” He shares,

For they will find that mercy cares,

In kindness sown, compassion’s thread,

As love’s great circle holds the dead.

“Peacemakers shine like stars in the night,”

With hearts that seek for what is right;

For in their quest for harmony eternally will see,

They are children of God that’s what they’ll will be.

“Rejoice and leap, for when you strive,”

Against all odds, your faith comes alive,

The kingdom’s future, bright and bold,

In trials faced, His love untold. Amen.
