The Acts of the Apostles Chapter 22 V30/23 Verse 1 thru 11
30 The next day, wishing to determine the truth about why he was being accused by the Jews, he freed him and ordered the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin to convene. Then he brought Paul down and made him stand before them. 1 Paul looked intently at the Sanhedrin and said, “My brothers, I have conducted myself with a perfectly clear conscience before God to this day.” 2 The high priest Ananias ordered his attendants to strike his mouth. 3 Then Paul said to him, “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall. Do you indeed sit in judgment upon me according to the law and yet in violation of the law order me to be struck?” 4 The attendants said, “Would you revile God’s high priest?” 5 Paul answered, “Brothers, I did not realize he was the high priest. For it is written, ‘You shall not curse a ruler of your people.’” 6 Paul was aware that some were Sadducees and some Pharisees, so he called out before the Sanhedrin, “My brothers, I am a Pharisee, the son of Pharisees; [I] am on trial for hope in the resurrection of the dead.” 7 When he said this, a dispute broke out between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the group became divided. 8 For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection or angels or spirits, while the Pharisees acknowledge all three. 9 A great uproar occurred, and some scribes belonging to the Pharisee party stood up and sharply argued, “We find nothing wrong with this man. Suppose a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?” 10 The dispute was so serious that the commander, afraid that Paul would be torn to pieces by them, ordered his troops to go down and rescue him from their midst and take him into the compound. 11 The following night the Lord stood by him and said, “Take courage. For just as you have borne witness to my cause in Jerusalem, so you must also bear witness in Rome.”
In Acts 22:30 and Acts 23:1-11, we witness the Apostle Paul standing trial before the Sanhedrin, boldly declaring his faith and testimony. Despite facing hostility and danger, Paul maintains a clear conscience before God. He demonstrates the profound confidence that comes from remaining in a state of grace, firmly rooted in Christ. This passage beautifully illustrates the power of holding fast to the truth of the Gospel, as Paul asserts his innocence and reveals his unwavering commitment to Christ.
As believers, we too are called to a life of integrity and faithfulness. Just as Paul felt empowered to witness to the resurrection of Jesus, we are reminded that calling on Christ equips us for every challenge we encounter. Maintaining a clear conscience before God is essential; it allows us to endure life’s trials with serenity, knowing we are cherished and supported by His grace. By living in a state of grace—confessing our shortcomings, seeking forgiveness, and leaning on Christ for strength—we can be assured of His presence in our lives.
Like Paul, who bore witness to the resurrection and the salvation offered to all who believe, we also become living testimonies of God’s love and redemption. Our lives can reflect the transformative power of grace, leading others to the eternal promise found in Christ. When we share our stories of faith and the hope we find in Him, we invite others into the abundant life that He offers.
Remember, dear friends, that as you remain steadfast in your faith and minister grace to those around you, you are participating in the beautiful narrative of salvation. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. **Perfectly Clear Conscience Before God**
In the shadowed halls of power, amidst the clamor and the fear,
Stood Paul, a faithful servant, his purpose boldly clear.
Bound by chains, yet unbroken, his spirit soared on high,
In the heart of every trial, he found the strength to abide.
Acts of courage vividly etched, in the annals of the brave,
Before the Roman’s watchful eyes, the truth began to wave.
With the crowd in tumult, and with hearts wrapped tight in dread,
He stood before his judges, unyielding in the spread.
“Brothers, Before God I have lived in good conscience,” he spoke with steadfast grace,
His words like arrows flying, finding truth’s narrow space.
Though the council raged and stumbled, as conflict filled the air,
His faith became a lighthouse, shining bright without despair.
As his voice cut through the chaos, bold testimony it bore,
A reminder of redemption, and of grace forevermore.
Yet factions rose against him, and discord reigned anew,
But amid the strife and challenge, a promise shone right through.
For the Lord stood near beside him, with a whisper in the night,
“Take courage, Paul, for you have witnessed, and shall witness still my light.”
In that moment of surrender, he felt a mighty call,
To bear the weight of truth and love, a legacy for all.
So let us hear the echoes, of that ancient tale retold,
Of one who faced the shadows, with a faith both strong and bold.
In trials we may stumble, yet through our hearts we see,
The strength of united purpose, in love’s sweet victory. Amen.
