THE GOSPEL OF LUKE CHAPTER 1 12 THRU 17
12 Zechariah was troubled by what he saw, and fear came upon him. 13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall name him John. 14 And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, 15 for he will be great in the sight of [the] Lord. He will drink neither wine nor strong drink.* He will be filled with the holy Spirit even from his mother’s womb, 16 and he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. 17 He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah* to turn the hearts of fathers toward children and the disobedient to the understanding of the righteous, to prepare a people fit for the Lord.”
I’m sure that there’s not many of us who can say that they would face an angel and not be scared. I can only imagine Zacharias shaking in his tracks unsure of what he was hearing finding disbelief that God would even make him the father of “the one calling out in the desert.” What the region surrounding the Baptists cleansings had trouble believing themselves was a man wearing camel hair living in the desert eating bugs and licking honey until one discovers the glory God’s secret instilled for him to announce the One who would forgive all sins.
Surprise! He turns out to be sober one who doesn’t drink wine nor other spirits of the time but simply following the will of God embracing his call as many of us will do after we find our beings are looking for God to call out to. We might deny when this occurrence comes afraid to ask afraid to be shunned from a life that will lack obedience to only one. Find this place in your heart where God asks you to embrace the joys of Angels words for they come from the mouth of our God where only Redemption is given not hatred and retaliation find release you’ll be living. Amen.

Desert obedience baptisms revitalized
Righteousness Elijah’s Power mainstreamed
